A new week, a new tragedy emerges. Grown from racist hate and ignorance. Our hearts ache for the Muslim community; our neighbours, friends, and loved ones. We stand with you in grief and outrage, and pledge our support and strength. Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate have no place in Canada or the world. The hate and ugliness that took the lives of four people, and left a 9 year old boy an orphan is repulsive, and such a clear example of the insidious white supremacy that exists in Canada. Our leaders continue to deny its existence. We must stand together and condemn this willful ignorance, and hold our country and the officials that represent it accountable for the anti-Muslim rhetoric that leads to violent acts against the Muslim community. We must continue to pressure our political representatives to work towards seeking justice for hate crimes like this one, and preventing future racist attacks. Aren’t we all exhausted and full of pain? Please stand with us, lend your privilege, strength, voice, and actions to our Muslim community, and demand justice.
